I think the fastest way to know if my site is right, and makes sense is the amount of time someone spends on the site. The longer a person's attention is held and they are captivated, and want to stay to investigate more means to me that the site story is good.
I think using metrics behind the scense will give factual information about intrest. Either by using the metrics record systems built into the webhost ftp manager/site manger. Or by using 3rd party system, like google or adobe metrics.
